Josephine is a young 14-year-old girl who loves the color pink, classical music and snacking on chocolate chip cookies. She has a passion for art and drawing. When she isn’t busy creating works of art, she likes to use her creativity to build her own virtual Minecraft world. When spending time outside, Josephine likes to get some fresh air and look at all the pretty flowers.

At a young age, Josephine was diagnosed with congenital myopathies, which are rare muscle diseases. This can cause muscle weakness, limiting her mobility. Her everyday life may not be the same as any other 14-year-old, but Josephine still lives life to the fullest!

When asked what her most heartfelt wish would be, Josephine chose to take a family trip to Alaska! In January of 2019, her wish became a reality and Josephine and her family embarked on their Alaskan adventure. On this trip, they had the opportunity to see many well-known Alaskan sights. She looked forward to seeing the mesmerizing view of the Northern Lights. When the day finally came, they braved the cold temperatures and ventured out with a professional photographer to see the popular site.

“When I first saw the Northern Lights, I was surprised and happy. I was overwhelmed with joy and relieved that my dream finally came true. Although I was tired and it felt like I waited for hours, after finally seeing the Northern Lights, the wait was really worth it. The beautiful natural phenomenon lying in front of my eyes was truly spectacular!” -Josephine

Her family came back with so many wonderful memories that they will always remember. From exploring a museum about Alaskan history to seeing the Northern Lights, this trip was truly an adventure! Above all, they were able to spend quality time together as a family.

“Anything is possible. One may say that it's too difficult for you to travel due to your limitations or the extra expenses needed for your travel is just too much. You just need to have different accommodations made for your own safety and comfort. So don't worry, you can snooze on an air plane and travel to the ends of the Earth just like any other person you see without a care in the world!” -Josephine

Josephine's wish gave her the confidence to travel and learn about different cultures of society. Her perspective on traveling has changed greatly and has opened up a whole new world for her to explore with her family and not worry about any difficulties, something she constantly worried about before.
