As an energetic person, Liora often enjoyed being outdoors. Growing up, she would be seen running around and playing with a soccer ball. Her passion for soccer started when she was just 4 years old. Liora truly put her heart and soul into the sport, so much so that she was even named “Soccer Player of the Year” on her team!
However, in 2013, Liora was diagnosed with a malignant kidney tumor, requiring her to undergo a nephrectomy, chemotherapy and radiation. Due to the many procedures, she began feeling unmotivated to do almost anything.
“When I received my wish in 2014 to attend the Soccer World Cup in Brazil, it changed my mind set,” Liora said.
Her trip to the 2014 World Cup gave Liora something to look forward to after the multiple procedures she went through. It pushed her to focus on having a positive recovery and to have a new perspective towards her situation.
One of the highlights of Liora’s trip was being featured on the game’s big screen while cheering on her team! In addition to watching the soccer matches, Liora and her family created wonderful memories attending the FIFA Fan Fest and sight-seeing around beautiful Rio de Janerio.
Now being four years in remission, Liora continues to carry and spread this confident mindset with those around her.
She still holds soccer near and dear to her heart but also enjoys different physical activities. Today, she often spends her time amongst nature and lives a life full of adventure!
“You truly don’t know what you have until it’s gone,” Liora said. “This is why I spend as much time being physically active as I could no longer do that when I was sick.”
