Greg was fighting Hodgkins Lymphoma. The repeated rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatment were starting to take a toll on him, both physically and mentally. Greg needed something to look forward to other than the on-going treatment. That’s when the Make-A-Wish Foundation came into our lives.
When Greg was told that his wish to go to the Super Bowl was going to come true, changes started to happen immediately. It was as if Greg’s energy level and spirit had been recharged. Motivated by his wish, Greg was determined to get healthy enough to travel to the Super Bowl.
Attending the Super Bowl was very special for our entire family. Yes, it was a thrilling game. But more importantly, it gave Greg a chance to get away from all the hospital stuff, and just be a normal kid for a while.
During Greg’s illness, we often heard that “Recovery is half physical and half mental.” Greg was fortunate to have excellent doctors and nurses to provide him with the physical side of his recovery; and the Make-A-Wish Foundation
to provide him with the mental support side of his recovery.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you Make-A-Wish.
