Eliza’s wish was to meet a dolphin. The Make-A-Wish foundation sent her a card and she saw a picture of a boy with a dolphin. She said, “that is what I want to do.” Make-A-Wish gave us a wonderful trip to Sea World to meet a dolphin. The dolphin pool was reserved just for us. A trainer had all of the dolphins come over so we could pet them and see their tricks up close. We had such a fun time on this special trip as a family. Cancer really affects the entire family, so it was nice to be able to get away from all of the madness. This trip is something Eliza and the rest of our family will never forget.
Eliza is now done with her chemotherapy and is getting checked every month to make sure the cancer stays away. After a year she will get regular check-ups but not quite as often. Right before she was supposed to end her treatment, Eliza got a really bad infection and was in the hospital for three weeks. As a result of that infection, she has Bells Palsy on the right side of her face. The right side of her face cannot move. She has had a hard time with this, but is getting used to it and we pray every night it will go away soon. She is a brave girl who has been through a lot. The Make-A-Wish foundation did a great job at planning everything and taking great care of us. We all felt special at such a difficult time in our lives.
