Maria, 17, is a passionate fashion and art enthusiast who always had a dream to visit Europe. There was so much she wanted to see, including the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Colosseum and Big Ben. One day she saw a commercial on TV for river cruises through Europe which sparked her interest.
In 2012, Maria was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. However, her desire of going on a European River Cruise was formed before her diagnosis, so Maria refused to let cancer get in the way of traveling the world.
Once approached by Make-A-Wish volunteers, Maria was thrilled to learn that her most heartfelt wish of exploring Europe via a river cruise would become a reality.
Maria’s favorite part of the trip was visiting the city of Paris to see the Louvre. She was so interested in the city’s history and landmarks.
“She was so excited everywhere she went,” said Fabiola, Maria’s mother.
From the incredible views from the ship to discovering the landing beaches in Normandy, Maria and her family were so thankful to have had the opportunity to discover Europe after enduring months of medical treatments.
“This trip gave us time to bond as a family and be a part of Maria’s dream,” Fabiola said.
